Acer shirasawanum

'Kawaii' Full Moon Maple

Zone 5

Acer shirasawanum 'Kawaii' is an attractive deciduous dwarf shrub with a low-mounding habit. Its spring and summer foliage is a beautiful orange-plum-red color and is more delicate than most dissectums. This maple is sure to draw attention with its dramatic fall colors of brilliant red and deep orange.

Hardy to -20 degrees and preferring sun or partial shade in well-drained soil, the 'Kawasuzumi' Japanese Maple only grows to 1 foot tall and 2 feet wide in 10 years, making it an ideal choice for small gardens or containers. Discovered and introduced by the Flora Wonder™ Collection of Buchholz Nursery, its name means "cute" in Japanese.
